BLANKS is a dance solo. By offering subtext, pretext and context Ingrid Berger Myhre lightheartedly reveals how the description of a situation already alters the very situation described. Working with text and gesture, she proposes cheeky takes on the way we read and project meaning onto things, situations or people through subtle plot twists that leave you to fill in the blanks.

Language and semiotics are central elements to her artistic work. Departing from text, gesture and the juxtaposition of the two, her work proposes cheeky takes on readings and projections of meaning through subtle twists of conventions, context and expectation. Her choreographic body of work consists of Current (2013), Latest notes (2015: with Ann-Christin Berg Kongsness), Staff (2015: with Andreea David), Supplies (2016) and Blanks (2017). Myhre is affiliated choreographer at Dansateliers Rotterdam, the house co-producing her works since 2013.

”With the dry commentary of the wall, the play with expectation and Marthaler-like sound-jokes – the music is muffled as the dancer disappears into the decor – Blanks is a witty performance. Dance that relativises itself: it’s possible. (...) go and see it: this is dance with a smile.” - de Theaterkrant

”Blanks was for me not blank at all, but rather filled. Filled with humor, with nuance, with gentle precision. A smart and captivating game between the performer and the audience, between the spectator and his own perception and expectation. Rich, pleasant and at the same time layered with meanings, possibilities and options.” -

Ingrid Berger Myhre studied at the Trinity Laban Centre in London, holds a BA in Modern Theatre Dance from Amsterdam School of the Arts (NL) and most recently a MA in Choreography; Research and Performance at the Choreographic Centre in Montpellier (FR). She is currently following the Research Studios program at P.A.R.T.S.
