About

The class is based on principles that train the body in passing into and out of the ground as fast as possible, raise awareness of the connection between movement and space and centre and periphery of the body. That encourages the understanding of muscle/skeletal connections, as well as trusting the body, musicality and pleasure in dancing. The exercises intertwine the knowledge of Flying Low technique and some subtle somatic approaches to body.

The workshop is a blend of movement research, improvisation and partly composition. It focuses on searching for dancing that arises through following the stream of living impulses and little movements within the body, which we try to shape into actions, as independent from will and reason as possible. It is orientated towards raising awareness of personal movement habits and establishing different, for an individual new patterns of moving.

Biography

Tina Valentan is a dancer and choreographer who finished her education on the Theaterschool in Amsterdam (SNDO). As an independent artist she develops her own projects, creates choreographies for theater and music performances and teaches dance. Her work has been supported by different production houses, such as: Federacija, Maska, Emanat, City of Women, Plesna izba Maribor, European Cultural Foundation and Modul Dance. Currently she is collaborating as a dancer in the performance Hunting Season, choreographed by Milan Tomašik.
