About

Maja Delak, multiple award-winning choreographer, dancer, performer, and teacher, has played a major role in shaping the Slovenian arts scene over the past two decades. In this edition of Methodologies of Notation, we will attempt the impossible – namely an examination of her extensive opus in detail and in general. We will discuss crucial contents that spark her creative interests, such as developing a choreographic and dance language, the way collaborators influence the choice of creative principles, themes, and contents, different formats of her performances, while we will also reflect on how to remain optimistic when working in a field as marginal as contemporary dance. The discussion will focus on her work over the past eight years, while we may also return to her earlier works, if the need should arise.
