Leo Rafolt: Sad Sam Matthäus between execution and archive

Sad Sam Matthäus, Matija Ferlin's latest perfor-mance, will be interpreted in a double way; against the background of the concept of messianic time and in the context of the various autocitation procedures used by the performer and the author to recode his own performance corpus, or to introduce it into a new field of “pure linguistics”. With reference to some of his earlier works, the lecture will try to penetrate the deep structures of the translation of differ-ent languages into a specific (performative) choreo-text, somewhere halfway between “performing” and “archiving”, i.e. into the manifold of intersemiotic processes that are activated in such a process and thus generate a specific authorial habitus.
The lecture takes place as part of the Sad Sam Manifestation Festival.
