We are intrigued by what is seemingly „behind“ the dance, what is deliberate, as well as intuitive and what motivates the dancers', in this particular case, decisions. We try to articulate our thoughts, speak them out, being, at the same time, aware of the way they motivate, stop or change the flow of dance, movement or anything we do...
Biographies
Sonja Pregrad is a Croatian author and performer. She is currently living between Berlin and Zagreb, teaching at the Zagreb Academy of Fine Arts, Department for Animated Film and New Media, SMASH program in Berlin and co-creating an international interactive dance publication/project TASK with TALA Dance Centre.
She hasacquired an MA in Solo/Dance/Authorship at Universität der Künste Berlin as well as a BA at ArtEZ in Arnhem. She worked with artists Meg Stuart, Boris Charmatz, Sanja Iveković, Isabelle Schad, Frederic Gies, Willi Dorner, Keren Levi, Irma Omerzo and others. Since 2007 she is a co-founder and organizer of Improspections, an initiative for affirmation of improvisation as a performing art in Zagreb.
Zrinka Šimičić Mihanović is a dance artist, SME (Somatic Movement Educator), IDME (Infant Developmental Movement Educator), CMA –SP (Certified Movement Analyst – Somatic Practitioner). Her collaborations include Croatian as well as foreign authors. She has been active as an author and choreographer since 2003. Since 2007 she has been co-organiser of Improspekcije, international improvisation festival in Zagreb. She received danceWEB Europe 2006 scholarship. She is a co-founder of artistic association Multimedijalna koliba (Multimedia Hut). She obtained her double major M.A. in History of Art and French Language and Literature at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Philosophy. She is the Teaching Assistant at the Dance department of the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb.
Zrinka Užbinec is a dancer and performer with interest in choreography. She is a member of performance collective BADco. and has been, until 2013., one of the coordinators of Experimental Free Scene (ekscena), an independent organization established to promote contemporary dance and other forms of performing arts. She has finished School for Contemporary Dance “Ana Maletić” and has participated in many dance workshops in Croatia and abroad. Her work experience includes collaborations with authors and groups like: Irma Omerzo, festival "Improspekcije" (Zrinka Šimičić Mihanović and Sonja Pregrad), Mila Pavićević and Mario Kikaš, Selma Banich, CDU (Centre for Drama Art), BLOK, Oliver Frljić, Matija Ferlin, Aleksandra Janeva Imfeld, Andreja Kulunčić, etc. She has coauthored several dance projects. Often giving classes in contemporary dance, she also holds workshops with other BADco. members in Croatia and abroad. She has finished a one year educational course at the Centar for Women Studies in Zagreb, and is, until recently, a student at MA Choreography and Performance at the Institute for Applied Theatre Studies, in Gießen. She holds a degree from the Faculty of Economics, University of Zagreb.
