Talk no. 3: Nataša Živković - Nenad Jelesijević

The talk with Nataša Živković will revolve around crossing and transgressing boundaries between contemporary dance, theatre, and performance. Her choreographic practice is marked by subtle upgrading of classical ballet principles with a completely liberated stage discourse that does not avoid critical reflections. Besides sharing thoughts about her solo projects, we will talk about the advantages and disadvantages of independent work on stage and try to deepen the understanding of her translation of intimate psychology into stage discourse. The talk will also address Nataša's pedagogical work, which includes teaching of dance techniques, contemporary dance, ballet, and movement classes for children.

Biographies

Nataša Živković is an artist working in different fields of contemporary art: contemporary dance, theatre, and performance art. After completing the secondary school of ballet in Ljubljana, she focused on contemporary dance and collaborated with many choreographers; lately she also intensively works in the theatre. Nataša also works as a mentor, teaches ballet and contemporary dance, and together with Bunker Institute collaborates in the project Theatre Playground, devoted to art and cultural education. She received the Golden Bird Award in 2009 for her solo debut First Love's Second Chance (Getting over Heintje) and for her dance and theatre engagement. In the framework of City of Women Festival, she has created two other solo projects in collaboration with Via Negativa: Still life (2010) and For Father's Sake (2014). In technoburlesque Image Snatchers, she adopts the stage name Tristan Bargeld.

Nenad Jelesijević is a researcher and publicist in the field of contemporary performing arts, performance, film, interdisciplinary practices, visual art, architecture, and design. He holds a PhD in philosophy and visual culture; his thesis was focused on critical art work and symbolic capital. As a non-artist, he is active in the tandem KITCH.
