About

The class focuses on the dancer’s connection with/to the floor. We will work with simple movement sequences and exercises, which will help us focus on breathing, awareness, and functionality of the body and movement. This will allow us to go to the floor, move there freely, and to rise back to the vertical as efficiently and effortlessly as possible. We will focus our attention on finding pleasure in movement, on using the centre and how to extend the limbs out of it, on correct alignment and use of the body for efficient movement, as well as on the awareness of spirals in the body and in space.

Biography

Jerca Rožnik Novak (1992, Ljubljana) finished her secondary dance training at the contemporary dance department at the Pre-School Education and Grammar School Ljubljana in 2011. In 2016, she graduated from the academy for contemporary dance Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität in Linz, Austria, where she is currently enrolled in a postgraduate programme. Before going to Linz, she has participated in “The Daddy Project”, which received the 2013 Ksenija Hribar Award for promising dancers. During her studies, she collaborated with Cie. Off Verticallity Tanzompany (Linz). In 2016, she co-created with Leon Marič a choreographic debut “HWEOL…IN A WHIRLWIND OF TIME”. She has also collaborated with the company Tanz.coop and with choreographers such as Willi Dorner, Maria Koliopoulou, and Matjaž Farič. Currently, she is working with Editta Braun Company, SILK Fluegge, and with Johannes Randolf. She is also the member of KUD IIIIRADIATOR.
